Safety in Hafjell Bike Park
Mountain biking is an activity that is associated with some risk of injury. In Hafjell Bike Park, we spend a lot of time on safety work so that you as a guest with us will have a safe and good experience with us.
Mountain biking is a broad concept that includes everything from downhill cycling to cycling to school on a gravel road, so it is up to each individual to make a risk assessment adapted to their skill level, for the cycling to be practiced at each moment.
We define our bike park as all the trails that are within the alpine center area. This means all the trails that are marked and signposted as slopes on our TRAIL MAPS, and we have our own guidelines and rules for cycling in our park. For cycling outside our facility, we encourage you to follow NOTS's bike rules, which are located at the bottom of this page.
For your own safety, please familiarize yourself with the following guidelines:

TRAIL GRADING FOR DOWNHILL BIKING
Our bicycle trails within the lift system are defined as downhill trails
● Green trails are suitable for all skill levels. We recommend all beginners to start cycling on a green trail before going to the blue. On green trails you do not encounter any scary obstacles, but can easily roll on wide machine-built paths or gravel roads.
● Blue trails are a little harder than the green ones, but are also manageable for beginners. Our blue trails are wide, machine-built trails with comfortable burms, small plateau jumps and other fun elements.
● Red trails are narrower and / or steeper than the blue trails, and are suitable for more experienced cyclists. Here you will find more rocks and roots, as well as bigger challenges such as jumps and drops of a slightly greater degree of difficulty than what you find in blue trails.
● Black trails are very demanding, and should only be ridden by those who have very good cycling skills. Here you will find large rocks, roots, large jumps with gaps, drops, technical sections and very steep descents.

In our Bikepark for lift-based cycling, we only recommend the use of full suspension mountain bikes with good disc brakes.
