Closure of trails in Hafjell in connection with preparation for the World Cup

On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March, the World Cup in slalom and giant slalom will take place in Hafjell, and we expect no less than 40,000 spectators over two days. Preparations for this spectacular event are already underway, and from March 2 to 21, there will be some restrictions on the general ski offer. See details below.

Experience the folk festival in Hafjell

When the world's best alpine skiers take over Hafjell, the destination is transformed into an arena filled with excitement, entertainment and great atmosphere. The audience can look forward to action-packed races, musical performances and a bustling life both in the finish area and around the facility. Hafjell will be filled with activities for the whole family, and a festive weekend is planned with food service, concerts and shows.

An arena of international class

To ensure a world-class event, an arena of high international standard is now being built in Hafjell. With extensive upgrades, grandstands and top facilities, this will be an experience both athletes and spectators will never forget. The World Cup courses will be used for the preparation and execution of the races, and we greatly appreciate the understanding from our guests for the adaptations that must be made during this period.

What does this mean for you as a guest?

The offer will be affected – but don't despair, there will be plenty of skiing. What you need to be aware of is:

  • From Sunday week 8, trail 41 will be closed from the national facility building. There will be a ski road that crosses over to trail 23 from the finish house.

  • For guests who are going to Sørlia, it will be possible to drive down trail 41 so out, it will not be possible to slide from trail 23 to Sørlia. Then you have to go via trail 41 from the tunnel roof.

  • The World Cup will take place from the top of trail 46, from Monday March 10, trail 60 will be closed. But it will be possible to cross from trail 24 to Vidsynexspress as normal.

When will the national facility be reset to normal?  The organizer will start rigging down the arena after Sunday 16/3. We expect the trails to be fully accessible to our guests from Friday 21/3.

As a spectator, you can freely ski during the World Cup, if you are going down to the arena, we drive via easy slope trail 23. Remember, you need a ticket to enter the arena. Buy tickets here.
